Currently under construction, way above our heads, is the newest neighborhood in Pittsburgh. Set on top of Piatt Place, the new rooftop community, when finished, will have an eye-level view of Trinity Cathedral's spire. The condominiums' mid-skyline elevation is high enough for distant vistas, but close enough to the street for people watching. Strada, working with Adventure Development and the Town of McCandless, has designed a town center for McCandless that provides the township with a distinct feeling of “place” around a new retail center. McCandless, despite being home to well known institutions like La Roche and UPMC Passavant, lacked a sense of identity. Strada’s McCandless Crossings design accommodates both the car-centric nature of the comfortable, suburban community, but also establishes a walkable, tree-filled, town center with a mix of retail, residential, and office space.
