  • Piatt Place Residences Completed in the Heart of Pittsburgh

Sixty-five new condominium units were recently completed as part of the Piatt Place conversion of the Lazarus-Macy's department store to a mixed-use complex. To add condominiums to the existing building, Strada designed three new floors of light-weight construction around a central courtyard, on top of the existing four-story building. The new residences capitalize on the dramatic skyline views available at the center of the City.

When it is fully occupied, Piatt Place will constitute the dramatic transformation of a vacant single-use building to a diverse complex incorporating underground parking, ground floor retail and entertainment, large-floor plate offices and three floors of condominium flats, or duplexes. Through multiple, iterative design studies Strada was able to solve the complex planning, architectural and engineering challenges to integrating these diverse uses in one existing building.
